Luke chapter 19 tells us the story of a rich man named Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector. He has heard of Jesus and tried to see who He was.
Being of little stature he was not able to see from the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was to pass that way.
When Jesus came to the vicinity, looking up He saw him and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” So he hurried and came down, and received Him joyfully.
When the people saw it, they all murmured saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I will repay him four times as much.”
