You Shall Love the Lord Your God… But What Does Loving God Really Mean?

God’s children are encouraged to say, ”Lord, I love you!” but like faith, words must be acted upon, lest we find ourselves “hypocrites”

“Lord, I love You!”

Amen! Well and good! But those sweet words call for action not many in God’s congregation realize.

Declaring to God ”Lord, I love you!” carries such gravity which could lead many professing Christians astray, if not acted upon.

Remember Jesus Christ’s words to the Pharisees and scribes (Mat 15:7–9, MEV):

You hypocrites, Isaiah well prophesied of you, saying:

These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips,
but their heart is far from Me
. In vain they do worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’” (Isaiah 29:13)

Let’s unscroll the Scriptures and understand what this means.

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your might.
