Great article, Quin! Yes, they are just like us.

John the Baptist had the same Spirit as the prophet Elijah had.

And he (John) will go before Him (Jesus) in the spirit and power of Elijah... (cf. Luke 1:17)

John had a similar moment of weakness as Elijah had when he was threatened by Jezebel (1 Kings 19:2-3):

2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” 3 When he (Elijah) saw that she was serious, he arose and ran for his life to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. 4 But he went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a juniper tree and asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough! Now, O Lord, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers.

Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are (James 5:17), and so was John.
