Amen! Thank you David for your article. Yes! We need to keep abiding in Him while we live in this mortal body. That is the key to salvation. For Jesus said, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." (John 3:36, ESV)

When our life is lived for His glory, eternal life kicks in once we leave this mortal body.

Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. (Mark 10:29-30, ESV)

Notice that Jesus words is always in future tense, "you will be saved" (Rom. 10:9). Many have been redeemed, forgiven or saved from their past sins when they first believed and have been baptized. As the apostle Paul told the believers in Corinth, "you were washed..." ( 1 Cor. 6:11) "so glorify God in your body!" (1 Cor. 6:20).

Only the thief on the cross had the assurance of eternal salvation for he had the opportunity to believe on the verge of his physical death. And Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43, ESV)

God bless you David!
